Al Zahra Hospital Performs the First FAPI PET-CT Scan
At Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, we are always looking for ways to bring the latest medical advances to our patients. Today, we are proud to share an important milestone: our Radiology Department has performed the first FAPI PET-CT scan in our hospital.
What is a FAPI PET-CT Scan?
A PET-CT scan is a special imaging test that helps doctors see how cancer is behaving inside the body. Usually, the test looks directly at cancer cells. The new FAPI PET-CT works differently — it targets the fibroblasts, which are special cells that surround and support the tumor.
By looking at these fibroblasts, doctors can get a clearer and more accurate picture of the cancer.
Why is this Important for Patients?
This new scan can help:
- Detect cancer earlier and more precisely.
- Improve how doctors evaluate complex cancers, such as those in the liver, pancreas, and digestive system.
- Support oncologists in choosing the best treatment plan for each patient.
In simple terms, FAPI PET-CT can give doctors more detailed information, which means patients receive more personalized and effective care.
