Dubai, July 2020 – Al Zahra Hospital Dubai has completed over 4,000 sessions of Hyperbaric Oxygenation Treatments in 3 years, making it the only private hospital in the UAE to achieve this number.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy also known as HBOT, which is the use of 100% oxygen under high pressure, has been gaining abundant popularity in recent years (FDA approved since seventies) for its many health benefits. It involves delivering oxygen to the body (15 times the normal amount) while the patient is placed in a positive pressure chamber. The treatment is proven to speed up the body’s healing process and is used for many medical conditions such as Diabetic wounds, Sudden hearing loss, Carbon monoxide poisoning, Gangrene, Bone & chronic infections, post-radiation problems, Skin Graft and Flaps failure, Bone graft failure,  Decompression sickness and  more.

The benefits of this cutting edge therapy include new collagen generation and formation of new blood vessels, also kills most of harmful bacteria and strengthens the body’s immune system, speeds the body’s ability to heal, helps wound healing by bringing oxygen-rich plasma to tissue starved for oxygen, prevents damage that happens when the blood supply returns to the tissues after they have been deprived of oxygen.

“At AZHD we are the only hospital in Dubai to have an HBOT chamber. With growing research, we can use HBOT to treat a much larger pool of conditions such as Chronic Fatigue, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Migraines, Alzheimer’s, Autism, Sports & Spinal Cord Injuries, & more” – Dr. Mohab Ahmed Shafei, Specialist General Surgeon – Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
